Scott Lyon entered the building business in 1975 when he participated in the construction of the Brandywine Inn, located west of Dixon, Illinois. Ten years, 48 custom homes, numerous light commercial projects and one 'Ronald Reagan boyhood home' later, Scott sold his share in Viking Builders, Inc. and moved to Mancos, Colorado. The next 6 years resulted in a thriving Raynor garage door distributorship. Scott sold Southwest Raynor Door, Inc. in 1992 and returned to the custom home building business. Shortly after returning, as Mountain Lyon Enterprises, Inc., Scott added a nationally acclaimed log home supplier to his list of subcontractors. In 2007, another addition was made; that of a nationally acclaimed timber frame/SIPS supplier. Stick frame, log frame and timber frame examples are all featured in the following galleries.

As of 2010, 34 custom homes (roughly half stick built and half log or timber frame built) have been successfully completed in Southwest Colorado.
As a resident of Durango, Scott continues to strive for the quality and satisfaction of building he discovered 35 years ago.

"I can truthfully say I wouldn't change much had I the chance to do it all over again. The people I have been lucky enough to meet - owners, subcontractors, tradespersons, financiers and suppliers - have become the most interesting friends and acquaintances. For them and for the people I have yet to meet, I strive to do my best and enjoy the journey along the way.
